Top Ten Tuesday – 10 Books That Should be on Netflix

ttt-new

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme by The Artsy Reader. This week’s topic is Books that Should be Adapted into Netflix Shows/Movies. This list is really gonna expose me for what a rom com fiend I am – I absolutely devour them as both books and movies – and Netflix offers some of the best rom-coms of the 2010s.

  1. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins – I am honestly shocked that this book has not been made into a movie. It’s the cutest, dreamiest love story and it’s set in Paris. What is not to love?
  2. One to Watch by Kate Stayman-London – This would be a lot like Unreal (and if you haven’t watched Unreal and you are a fan of The Bachelor, run to Hulu and go watch it). Since I personally don’t think we’ll ever get a body-diverse season of The Bachelor, this would be a great adaptation.
  3. The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren – I want this as a movie with whoever directed Set it Up at the helm. Lush, tropical settings, enemies to lovers, and one of my favourite book couples. I think this would be an instant hit.
  4. More than Maybe by Erin Hahn – I want a teen romantic comedy (a la To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before) with a banging soundtrack.
  5. The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang – Representation is totally lacking in romantic comedies, and I feel like Netflix would be able to get the representation right. Plus, this was the perfect steamy romance.
  6. One Day in December by Josie Silver – This would be like a cross between One Day and every early 2000s rom com that I love.
  7. Renegades by Marissa Meyer – With superheroes being as popular as they are, a multi-season show around a corrupt superhero police force and the woman who is infiltrating them – this would be awesome.
  8. Cinder by Marissa Meyer – Can you imagine a multi-season show with a season covering each of the books? That would be unreal (and fill a void in the fairytale adaptation genre).
  9. The Selection by Kiera Cass – I know this one is already getting an adaptation, but I really cannot wait for it to release. We’ve already been teased twice (the CW optioned it twice and pilots were filmed twice – check out footage from the second pilot here – warning, it’s terrible). The book is a total guilty pleasure, and I hope Netflix gets it right.
  10. What You Wish For by Katherine Center – I want a serious movie about hurt, tragedy, and moving on, and I want it about this book. Plus, the romantic bits were uber-swoony.

  1. The Unhoneymooners sounds like it would be great. I haven’t read it but I’ve seen it around (love the cover too) and yeah- it sounds fun. 🙂

  2. The Kiss Quotient made my list this week too! I finished reading The Bride Test today (in less than 24 hours, I couldn’t put it down) and I’d love to see this whole series made (even though I haven’t read The Heart Principal, I’m sure I’ll love it too).

  3. Great list! The Lunar Chronicles made my list this week, too. 😀 I’d love to see The Kiss Quotient on screen, and I’m planning to read The Unhoneymooners very soon so I’m sure I’ll want an adaptation as soon as I do.

  4. Oh no I wish I had never watched that footage from Selection promo 🙈🙈 I agree with you – it would make such a fantastic movie or tv series. I really want to read Cinder – it’s been on my list for the longest time.

  5. I’m also very excited the The Selection to release! I was also disappointed by what CW released. Those two Marissa Meyer series would be cool to see on screen as well!
