Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme by The Artsy Reader. This week’s topic is Standalone Books That Need a Sequel. I’m gonna keep this list short – for the most part, I really enjoy when a story wraps up nicely in a single book. That being said, there are definitely some exceptions.

  1. The Martian by Andy Weir
  2. Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
  3. Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty
  4. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
  5. The Hating Game by Sally Thorne

  1. I would love to see more Fangirl. And yes Big Little Lies! I would love to see another chapter in the lives of Madeline and some of the others.

  2. I agree that it was pretty hard to find standalones that didn’t already feel complete! That’s sort of the beauty of standalones. :3 I really enjoyed Ready Player One, and I’d love to see a sequel for that, too!

  3. Nice reading your thoughts. I´m still waiting for the sequel to The Host by Stephanie Meyer but I guess all hope is lost now that she has begun to write other stuff 😛

  4. The Carry On books are the sequels I wanted from Fangirl! 😂 And ooh, Big Little Lies would have been so much fun as a series. I’m a little sad we never find out what becomes of the characters after everything.
