Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme by The Artsy Reader. This week’s topic is Outrageous Things I’ve Done for the Love of Books. As an avid reader, I’ve done some out of the ordinary things in the name of reading, but I wouldn’t say any of them were truly outrageous (though, I might be a little biased).
- Read in the back of class. I used to drive teachers up the wall by choosing the furthest back seat and reading the entire class.
- Waiting for a midnight release. For the last four or so Harry Potter books, I did the whole wait-outside-the-store-for-the-book-to-come-out-at-midnight-with-a-bunch-of-other-cold-nerds thing.
- Added just one more book to my shopping cart to meet the shipping minimum. Then maybe one more just for good measure.
- Traveled five hours for a book signing. It was worth it.
- Cancelled plans because the plot of my latest read just got really good and I HAVE TO KNOW HOW IT ENDS.

Hah! I have a bit of a different story re: your first answer. 😂 I used to read in class to, but when my teachers caught me, they just looked at me and let it go. I guess a book was preferable to a cell phone!
I’ve never done a midnight release and I kinda wish I had. they seem like bonding moments with fellow fans lol.
I think about books all the time. When I meet someone I haven’t seen for a while I always ask about books. Ha! My Bookish behaviors
I have definitely added a book to the cart to make to free shipping. Ha!
I don’t live in a place where some of these are possible but I would totally drive for a book event! I wish I had gone to a midnight release of Potter but I never went.
Ha ha I did a 10 hour round trip to go to a book event once (5 hours there, 5 hours back) and it was totally worth it!

Those midnight release parties sound like so much fun.
My post.
I would read in class, too. And I think most of us are guilty of adding another book to get that free shipping! I once flew from Las Vegas to Houston, met a friend and then drove to Dallas for a book signing once. God, that was a blast. 🙂
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!
Ahaha I totally read books in class too! 😂😅 Oops? And omg adding another a book to buy to meet the free shipping minimum is the story of my life 😩😂 Great list!
I spend ages choosing another book (or more) to add to the cart to meet the free shipping minimum too! And I’m with you on cancelling plans to finish a good book 🙂
I tend to read in class too. It’s gotten a lot easier now with Kindle app on the computer and stuff!

Do they still have midnight releases anymore? I’ve never been to one, but I bet it would be fun.
Haha, #3 is my book-shopping life! I refuse to pay for shipping. I’d rather have another book.
