Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme by The Artsy Reader. This week’s topic is a Ten Signs You’re a Book Lover. I love this prompt – there are so many ways you can take it, and every book lover has a different experience. Here are my signs that you’re a book lover.
- You buy the books you’ve borrowed from the library that you loved.
- You buy more books than you can physically read
- You have at least five authors that you will buy/read anything they write
- You’ve definitely thought of writing your own book
- When you go on vacation you pack at least a book a day
- You’ve drowned at least one book in the bathtub
- You’ll only loan your books out to your most trusted friends
- You’ve had to put yourself on at least one book buying ban
- You have a strong preference for paperback, hardcover or eBooks
- You can still remember that one book that REALLY got you into reading

What a great list. The first 5 + #8 definitely apply to me — actually, off #4, one of my weird hobbies is writing book jacket copy for novels I would like to exist. I don’t quite have the drive to write or outline an actual complete novel, but I read enough to know how my dream book would be marketed.
#9. I’m all about ebooks.
#3 and #4 really hit home! There are so many stories in my head but my lazy self can I hardly muster up the motivation to actually write my own book sighs.

Oh no! Those poor bathtub books! I’m happy I have a waterproof Kindle. I take it to the gym (when we’re not under lockdown) and read in the hot tub after my workout.
A lot of these are definitely true for me! I don’t even drink around my books now though, let alone take them in the bath, I have been burned by leaking water bottles too many times to trust myself with books + water!

Great list!
Yes – auto buy authors!
And of course a book a day on vacation, anything else is madness 🙂
I’m definitely guilty of some of those too. Well, not the bathtub books though. Since we don’t have a bathtub. But I can imagine that that is a big shock every time one falls in the tub. 🙈
This is brilliant! -Neri
Okay, I must hear this drowning books in the bathtub story. How did that happen? :O
My TTT .
I had ‘You only loan your books to certain people’ on my list as well! I didn’t even think about putting anything about remembering the book that got you into reading. Great list!
Great list! I can definitely relate to 1 and 7. I rarely lend my books out! I should have put that on my list! Here is my Top Ten Tuesday.
I’m definitely guilty of number 2. 🙂
