Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme by The Artsy Reader. This week’s topic is Titles that would make good band names – which is something I had never really thought about. After digging into my Goodreads Read list, I realized there were some really good band names, and if I ever start a band I’m definitely picking one of these.

  1. Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie – sounds like a good indie band name that you’d watch in a pub
  2. The Perfect Escape by Suzanne Park – this is eerily close to the title of a song I love: The Great Escape by Boys Like Girls
  3. Supernova by Marissa Meyer – this is so perfect that it’s probably already the name of a great 80s synth band
  4. Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo – a punk band waiting to happen
  5. The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren – this has a vibe of a mix of The Proclaimers and The Lumineers
  6. The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang – a nerdy KISS cover band
  7. Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain – a band of all chefs with a lot of feelings
  8. Pumpkin Heads by Rainbow Rowell – a seasonal cover band for sure
  9. Annihilation by Jeff Vandermeer – a straight up screamo band
  10. Wildcard by Marie Lu – a EDM band that plays underground shows only

  1. I totally agree with you on most of these titles -I’d totally listen to a band named Supernova. I’ll make sure to name a fictional band like that if I ever wrote a book that includes one haha

  2. I didn’t pick them, but I think The Kiss Quotient and Wildcard would make good band names. Although they evoke different genres in my mind than in yours.

  3. I am loving this week’s topic. I’m really down for Supernova and Pumpkinheads. Awesome names!
