Waiting on Wednesday

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event held by Jill over at Breaking The Spine! It’s all about those books you just can’t wait for and are counting down the days till they come out.

This week I’m counting down until I can read Less by Andrew Sean Greer. It’s Satire about American’s living abroad, which really appealed to me because I’ve been wanting to read more fiction. Also, this book won a Pulitzer Prize, which really makes me think that I’m going to enjoy this book when I get to it.

Can we talk about how pretty the cover is? I know I’m not supposed to judge a book by it’s cover, but it’s so pretty. I’ve been wanting to read Caraval, it sounds like a funky, Cirque du Soleil themed book, which I am SO READY FOR.

Summary

Remember, it’s only a game…

Scarlett Dragna has never left the tiny island where she and her sister, Tella, live with their powerful, and cruel, father. Now Scarlett’s father has arranged a marriage for her, and Scarlett thinks her dreams of seeing Caraval—the faraway, once-a-year performance where the audience participates in the show—are over.

This week I’m dying to read Call Me by Your Name by Andre Aciman. Ever since last Oscars season I’ve wanted to see the movie, but it’s one I’ve been holding out to read the book first.

Summary

Call Me by Your Name is the story of a sudden and powerful romance that blossoms between an adolescent boy and a summer guest at his parents’ cliff-side mansion on the Italian Riviera. Unprepared for the consequences of their attraction, at first each feigns indifference. But during the restless summer weeks that follow, unrelenting buried currents of obsession and fear, fascination and desire, intensify their passion as they test the charged ground between them. What grows from the depths of their spirits is a romance of scarcely six weeks’ duration and an experience that marks them for a lifetime. For what the two discover on the Riviera and during a sultry evening in Rome is the one thing both already fear they may never truly find again: total intimacy.

The psychological maneuvers that accompany attraction have seldom been more shrewdly captured than in André Aciman’s frank, unsentimental, heartrending elegy to human passion. Call Me by Your Name is clear-eyed, bare-knuckled, and ultimately unforgettable.

This week I’m excited to read another one of Liane Moriarty’s books! If you’ve read my blog before, you know how much I loved Big Little Lies. After that book, I’m dying to read the rest of her books.

Summary

Alice Love is twenty-nine, crazy about her husband, and pregnant with her first child.

This week I’m counting down until I can read The Husband’s Secret by Liane Moriarty. I adored Big Little Lies and will pretty much read anything that Liane Moriarty writes. I’m hoping to get a copy soon, and probably read it in one sitting.

Summary

At the heart of The Husband’s Secret is a letter that’s not meant to be read

My darling Cecilia, if you’re reading this, then I’ve died…
